Mitsubishi futures

2013 Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution XI

The Evo is one of the best car ever offered by Mitsubishi and has fans everywhere. Mitsubishi will release the 2013 Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution XI and will serve as a hybrid car that has a beautiful design and extreme, yet efficient.

A few back pedals later and Mitsubishi President and CEO, Osamu Masuko, calmed the waters by stating that the the Evo X would not be the last of the Evolutions. Now, Masuko has offered even more details for the future of the Evo to Japanese magazine, Best Car, stating that Mitsubishi is fully intent on producing a high-performance car in the future, albeit green. Yeah, join the club, Masuko.

The next-generation Mitsubishi Lancer Evo could use a plug-in hybrid system that is being shown at the Tokyo motor show, sources have told Autocar.
The plug-in technology is being showcased on the Mitsubishi PX-MiEV concept, and if applied to the Evo XI would dramatically alter its make-up.
With the PX-MiEV, front and rear wheels are powered by two 81bhp permanent magnet synchronous motors. Theres also a 1.6-litre MIVEC petrol engine which not only drives the front wheels but also serves as a generator.

However, the system is configured around Mitsubishis Evo-style S-AWC handling control system, and automatically switches between different drive modes depending on driving style and remaining power in the lithium ion battery pack.

Its a highly sophisticated switchable system that borrows i-MiEV electric car tech for the back wheels but uses a new parallel-type hybrid system for the fronts. It also delivers over 140mpg economy, Mitsubishi says. Mitsubishi hopes to have it on the market by 2013, but company insiders say the technology could be directed at the new Evo.

2011 Mitsubishi ASX

Preservation of the Concept-cX is a "small wedge" design concept to push the edge of the light side, the general shape has been optimized, which is the best to use a longer wheelbase and 14.5 cm (2.67 m with 2.525 m) to create a lower profile and more balanced with better integration of the fender flares. Logically, textures and materials were chosen to perform the same key on the right and appearance. Although the interior color scheme is based on a single quarter note, the use of contrasting textures and materials has been done to gain momentum.

In this context, particular attention was paid to the areas affected by the occupiers softcover. This has led to the development of a new type of full two-tone contrasting textures so stylish and sporty.

Mitsubishi 3000GT

Mitsubishi 3000GT
CARBARN | Mitsubishi 3000GTcars that have long had to fill the world sports car in this world, this car is very powerful because it is widely used by riders in Europe and Asia, want to know? The following report Japan's automotive design is usually driven by the pursuit of efficiency, agility and lightness. At the same time, however, there's a definite obsession with technology: making everything electronic, inventing neat new gadgets and generally providing complex answers to simple questions. For a perfect example of the latter philosophy, look no further than the Mitsubishi 3000GT.

Mitsubishi 3000GT
Arriving just in time for the early 1990s sports car revolution, the 3000GT showed up carrying a great big load of stuff, especially in top-line VR-4 trim. To wit: a 24-valve V6 with dual overhead camshafts and twin turbochargers. Electronically adjustable suspension. Four-wheel drive. Four-wheel steering. A limited-slip differential. Front and rear spoilers that extend at 50 mph and retract at 30. Even the exhaust note could be customized with the flip of a switch. Of all the above features, the twin turbos and all-wheel drive left the strongest impressions. Three-hundred horsepower let the 3000GT VR-4 run with the fastest sports cars of its day, and the security of four driven wheels put it at ease doing so. Strong grip, strong brakes and styling that turned heads for nine straight years rounded out the package. The Mitsubishi 3000GT, along with its Dodge counterpart, the Stealth, got respect.

Mitsubishi 3000GT
But Mitsubishi's full load of technology sure resulted in a full load of car. At 3,800 pounds, the 3000GT VR-4 significantly outweighed every competitor and had the most pronounced frontal weight bias. Many drivers also felt its steering and shifter were vague, and its chassis less connected than other sports cars'. Furthermore, no one seemed to find much value in most of the electronics, and no one over 6 feet tall could sit up straight. As a choice for a used sport coupe or convertible, the Mitsubishi 3000GT is either a poser or a serious performance car, with a wide gulf between the two. Base and SL models look flashy but don't provide performance matching their looks. In VR-4 guise, the 3000GT is a car with serious speed, style and several fun little toys. Just know that: 1) Fun little toys have a habit of breaking; and 2) Unless all-wheel drive is a strong preference, more satisfying '90s-era experiences await the discerning driver in the form of the BMW M3, Mazda RX-7 and Nissan 300ZX Twin Turbo.

Mitsubishi 3000GT
Most Recent Mitsubishi 3000GT

The Mitsubishi 3000GT ran from 1991-'99 and came in three trim levels: base, SL and VR-4. The base and SL were front-wheel drive and were both initially powered by a 222-hp, 3.0-liter V6 that paired up to a five-speed manual or four-speed automatic transmission. The SL's upgrades consisted of antilock brakes, electronic adjustable shocks, a power driver seat and a handful of convenience features that varied by year. The VR-4 was in another league entirely, boasting all the previously mentioned performance upgrades and bigger 17-inch wheels. Unlike its rivals, Mitsubishi never offered an automatic with the turbo engine. The Mitsubishi 3000GT received steady changes over the years. After some across-the-board content upgrades for 1993 (such as standard leather for the VR-4), the first major freshening came in 1994. Reworked styling replaced the pop-up headlights with projector units and the interior gained a second airbag. Meanwhile, the VR-4 became an even stronger performer thanks to a boost from 300 to 320 hp, the addition of a 6th gear to the gearbox and upgraded brakes. In 1995, Mitsubishi expanded the line with the new 3000GT Spyder, a four-seat convertible available in SL and VR-4 trims. Featuring Mitsubishi's most elaborate electronic item yet, the Spyder had a power-retractable hardtop that could open or close in 19 seconds. At the time, it was one of the first modern production cars to feature such an item, though a high price and resultant slow sales limited the Spyder to a two-year run. In other news, the VR-4 gained 18-inch wheels for 1995, and from 1994-'96 Mitsubishi dropped the VR-4's adjustable exhaust and spoilers and its electronic suspension.

Mitsubishi 3000GT
Another face-lift in 1997 brought, among other things, a new St. Louis arch of a rear spoiler. In even worse news, the base 3000GT switched to a single-overhead-cam, 12-valve V6 with a decidedly measly 161 hp. The final changes were the addition of a sunroof on the SL and VR-4 for 1998 and yet another face-lift for 1999. For the driving enthusiast, the non-turbo 3000GTs are a bit of a letdown. By the mid-'90s, even the 222-hp 3000GT couldn't perform any better than some $10,000-cheaper family sedans, while the 161-hp 3000GT fared even more poorly. Still, the pre-'97 cars could serve as decent (and likely more reliable) alternatives to domestic-brand coupes like the Ford Mustang V6 or Chevrolet Camaro V6. Assuming one can be found in good condition, the real incentive to buy the Mitsubishi 3000GT is the VR-4. Though the basics remained intact throughout its run, models from 1994-'96 seem a little more desirable. The extra power and extra gear can't hurt, the more subtle rear spoiler doesn't impede visibility and the headroom-robbing sunroof was still optional. Also, the VR-4 Spyder deserves special mention as a true year-round sports car, with all-wheel-drive traction for winters, a retractable roof for summers and stronger performance than most any five-figure drop top of its day.

Mitsubishi ASX

Mitsubishi ASX
CARBARN | Mitsubishi ASX | stylish family car that is very special by the manufacturer Mitsubishi to serve and enhance people's needs, so you might want to create a family this is one solution. The following report

Mitsubishi ASX
STYLING

Be in no doubt: buyers are snapping up the crossovers chiefly for the way they look. The ASX will appeal to you if Mitsubishi's nose does, but driving a swollen Lancer isn't our idea of urban chic.

HANDLING

The ASX delivers a fairly anonymous experience from behind the wheel. The car doesn't emulate a hatchback's handling as well as some of its competitors, but it is competent nonetheless.
Mitsubishi ASX
COMFORT

We'll have to wait to drive the car in the UK to provide a definitive answer, but over smooth German roads the ASX's ride seemed reasonably well judged. Only the jolt from a very occasional pothole suggested there might be issues when the car crosses the channel.

Mitsubishi ASX
QUALITY & RELIABILITY

Expect the Mitsubishi to robustly deal with the daily abuse an average family will mete out, but don't expect it to look particularly good doing it. The interior is awash in plastic, and even though it's been moulded into the brand's current styling arrangement, some of its competitors do a better job of hiding their budget limitations.

Mitsubishi ASX
PERFORMANCE

In return for its genuinely pokey performance, most buyers will probably accept the 1.8 DiD's lack of refinement. The 1.6-litre petrol engine isn't too far behind, but it does have to struggle by with half of the diesel's torque output.

Mitsubishi ASX
ROOMINESS

Like most crossovers, this is the ASX's trump card. Its comparatively long wheelbase and SUV roofline means it feels particularly spacious - perhaps even more so than its arch enemy, the Qashqai. The Mitsubishi should swallow an average family whole.

STEREO / SAT NAV

You'll need to select the highest trim level if you want a sat-nav as standard, but if you do you'll get also get a Kenwood system thrown in, which should be a decent step up from Mitsubishi's mediocre standard unit.

Mitsubishi ASX
RUNNING COSTS

Neither engine should be particularly expensive to run. Mitsubishi claims the petrol will return 47mpg and the diesel 51mpg. The latter produces 145g/km CO2 placing it in VED band F, while the slightly cleaner petrol makes it into band E with 138g/km.

VALUE FOR MONEY

Mitsubishi has priced the ASX to compete. Again the Qashqai is the benchmark, and the manufacturer has ensured that it enters the market with a lower price tag. However, buyers will need to be convinced by the ASX's higher performance as the 1.5dCI is cheaper than Mitsubishi's new diesel.

Mitsubishi ASX
ENVIRONMENT

Both the ASX's engines benefit from the addition of Mitsubishi's environmental package known as ClearTec. This includes automatic stop  go, electric power steering, regenerative braking system and low rolling resistance tyres.
