Pontiac-Solstice-2011

has launched its concept car of the future that many of them get attention from prospective automotive designers. Although many of the ideas and see the production line, Pontiac designers find the latest and futuristic concept

already exists in the Pontiac Solstice. This Roadster The car had indeed been there from 2005-2009, but very similar to sports cars to another. Now, designers Macedonia, Dejan Hristov, combines modern design studies on the Solstice Concept II

The new Pontiac Solstice II Concept will be incorporate the proportion of core which is the original model and add some beauty sculpture design. At the front, this concept adds a vertical light features and complex-shaped carbon spoiler, while the back can combine sharp lines with a circular tail lights, and do not forget

who designed his own exhaust pipe. In addition, the Solstice II Concept has a layout Targa, leaving the top of which are difficult to fold and look good.

Pontiac Sunfire GXP

CARBARN | Pontiac Sunfire GXP | The pride of one car Pontiac car manufacturer, this car have the form of a very sporty-style car racing, racing-related, of course, the car is put together with enough machines to adrenaline, want to know? The following report The Pontiac Sunfire was introduced in the 1995 model year as the compact car to replace the Sunbird. Not only was the name changed, but dramatic styling changes were included as well. The new styling was shared with the Chevrolet Cavalier, though Chevrolet did not change the Cavalier name. Also during this time, the J platform was updated structurally to meet more stringent safety standards. The Sunfire could be purchased as a coup or a convertible. However, the convertible models were not sold after the year 2000, when Pontiac introduced a refreshed Sunfire. The Sunfire name was recycled from the Canada-only Asna Sunfire sold only in 1993.

The Pontiac Sunfire was available in standard and GT trim. In the US, only the coupe was available from 2003 to 2005, becoming the only two-door car on Pontiac's lineup between the demise of the Pontiac Firebird in 2002 and the relaunch of the Pontiac GTO in 2004. The sedan continued to be sold in Canada until the end of the overall production run. Sunfires were built in Lordstown, Ohio (until 2004, before retooling to build the Chevrolet Cobalt and Pontiac Pursuit models) or Ramos Arizpe, Mexico. Production of the Sunfire ended in June 2005. Over 36,000 Sunfires were sold in the US and 33,724 units were sold in Canada in 2004, each for approximately US$11,500. The Sunfire has, as of 2006, not yet been replaced in the US market, while GM Canada sells a version of the Chevrolet Cobalt as the Pontiac Pursuit. GM will replace the Sunfire in the United States with the Pontiac G5 for 2007.

In 2003, both the 2.2 L and the 2.4 L engines were replaced by the new 2.2 L Ecotec. The Ecotec was also available as an option in late 2002.

Pontiac Solstice

CARBARN | Pontiac Solstice | car unique, powerful, agile, environmentally friendly, fuel efficient and also it is a dream of everyone to ride her, and this is one of them, the car is comfortable to use and also very sport,  The following report The Pontiac Solstice is a small sports car from the Pontiac division of General Motors. Introduced at the 2004 North American International Auto Show, the Solstice roadster began production in Wilmington, Delaware, starting in mid-2005 for the 2006 model year. The exterior styling of the production Solstice is similar to that of the 2002 Solstice concept that preceded it. Production of the Solstice was to be running before summer 2005, but delays at the Wilmington plant pushed volume production to the fourth quarter. The new hardtop targa 2009 model was announced in mid 2008.The Solstice uses the GM Kappa platform, which also underpins the Saturn Sky, Opel GT, and Daewoo G2X.

The Solstice was nominated for the North American Car of the Year award and Design of the Year award from the Automobile Journalists Association of Canada (AJAC) for 2006. It was a runaway hit for Pontiac, with 7,000 orders in the first 10 days of availability and 6,000 more orders before winter. Although first-year production was planned at 7,000, GM apologized to customers for delays and increased production, delivering 10,000 by March 1.the look at the PONTIAC SOLSTICE  will tell most potential buyers what they really need to know. The Solstice is a good-looking, two-seat, drop-top sports car that starts around $21,000. Pontiacs little roadster is all about fun, sun and the joy of affordably motoring down the road. Were happy to report that the fun part of the formula has been cranked up several notches in the 2007 Solstice models.

For 2007, Pontiac introduces the Solstice GXP, an answer to a previous gripe: not enough power. Engine output increases substantially to a class-competitive 260 horsepower, thanks to a high-tech turbocharged four-cylinder engine. The GXP package lifts Solstice out of the good-clean-fun category, launching it toward genuinely thrilling. While the base price looks attractive, the base model is basic. The windows are hand cranked, theres no air conditioning, no ABS and the bare minimum of occupant safety features. Add the options most buyers want and the price will get closer to $25,000, and thats what youll likely find at the Pontiac dealership. It comes with a five-speed manual transmission and a 177-hp four-cylinder engine. The GXP is notably better than the base model, even for drivers inclined to think that they dont need the extra power. This model actually delivers slightly better mileage according to the EPA, and the $5,000 price premium includes features most buyers want anyway, like power windows, cruise control, ABS and electronic stability control. The net cost of the high-output engine and other performance-enhancing equipment is about $2,500, and we think its worth every dime. The GXP engine uses the latest materials and control technology, and it is GMs first in North America with fuel-saving gasoline direct injection.

Even in base trim, we found the Solstice fun, easy to drive, and an absolute head-turner, particularly in the new screaming yellow paint Pontiac calls Mean. The cockpit is comfortable, and the optional Stabilitrak traction electronics will make even sports-car novices feel comfortable behind the wheel. In addition, GMs new 100,000-mile powertrain warranty should add an element of owner security. Wed say the Solstice could make a fine daily driver in many locales, except that is has no place to put things (except a passenger). The lack of storage space and idiosyncrasies with the convertible top could get old quickly as a sole source of transportation. The lack of luggage space makes the Solstice a poor choice for long trips or airport runs. Yet cars like this arent purely about transportation. In many ways, the Solstice is a match for the Mazda MX-5 and Honda S2000, at a competitive price. Like these pure sports cars, the Solstice uses rear-wheel drive. Measured by key objective performance benchmarks, the GXP can be compared with much more expensive, long-time roadster class stalwarts such as the Porsche Boxster and Audi TT. In practice, however, the Solstice doesnt offer the handling precision of these other sports cars nor does it match their refinement, interior quality and general tightness.

Pontiac G6

Pontiac G6 in red color

A new G6 is likely to depreciate quickly now that the model has It shares parts with other midsize cars like the Chevy Malibu and Buick LaCrosse -- so it should be relatively simple to maintain a G6 even after the model leaves showrooms. Other GM dealers will service this car. Pontiac's fate shouldn't necessarily scare away buyers. See our best car deals page for current offers.

In the current economic climate, those cars can often be found at a discount. Those interested in an American-made midsize sedan might want to consider the more refined Chevrolet Malibu or Ford Fusion instead. And few consider its interior class-competitive. Some like the handling of the G6, though not in convertible form. But reviewers say all but the most expensive engine make the car feel sluggish off the line.

Available as a coupe, a sedan or a hardtop convertible, with three engine options, the G6 can be ordered in many different configurations. Those currently on dealership lots are the last of the line -- though that may make it easy to negotiate a deal. The G6 is doomed -- General Motors has announced plans to shut down the Pontiac brand at the end of 2009, and has already stopped building the G6. Underpowered, with a substandard interior, it trails most of the midsize class -- but is often available at a considerable discount. The automotive press was neither impressed nor offended with the G6. The Pontiac brand is due to disappear from American roads this year, and the 2009 Pontiac G6 with it, Moreover : Dodge Trucks

Pontiac G6 Convertible, 2009

Pontiac G6 Convertible, 2009

Pontiac has announced that it is ringing in the new year with a fresh look for its best-selling line of G6 mid-size vehicles. Additional fuel-saving powertrain options, more aggressive exterior styling, and a sleek new instrument panel highlight the 2009.5 model Pontiac G6, which will begin arriving in the dealerships in January 2009.
All Pontiac G6 models, including sedans, coupes and convertibles, receive the interior upgrades. The uniquely styled Pontiac G6 GXP models will not be affected by the exterior or powertrain changes.

New Powertrain Options
For the first time, the Pontiac G6 coupe will be available with GM's fuel sipping, 164-horsepower 2.4L four-cylinder Ecotec engine. Linked to a six-speed automatic transmission, the coupe's new powertrain combo is capable of the same 33 miles per gallon fuel efficiency as the current Pontiac G6 sedan and also incorporates a new TAPshift manual shift system with steering wheel-mounted paddle controls.

In those areas where E85 ethanol-based fuel is readily available, a FlexFuel version of the 219-horsepower 3.5L V6 will be available as a no-cost alternative to the standard 3.5L engine on all body styles.
The optional 222-horsepower 3.9L V6 for the Pontiac G6 convertible remains unchanged, as does the standard 252-horsepower 3.6L V6 in all GXP models.

Sportier Exterior
Inspired by the sporty front end styling of the new Pontiac G8 performance sedan, the new G6 front fascia features chrome surrounds for the signature Pontiac dual port honeycomb grille. This same grille pattern is carried to an updated lower air dam.
Also new are a revised headlight design with clear park/turn lenses and amber lamps, body color mirrors and painted rockers on the sedan and coupe. An updated spoiler is available for base model sedans and is standard on the GT models.

New rear fascias unique to the sedan and coupe/convertible accommodate both single and dual exhaust, as well as larger diameter exhaust tips.
17-inch chrome wheel covers are now standard equipped on all four-cylinder, six-speed automatic sedans and coupes. An updated 17-inch wheel will be standard as a part of the popular Sun-and-Sound package.

Refreshed Interior
A revised center stack is the most obvious interior enhancement of the 2009.5 model Pontiac G6, sporting all new HVAC controls and an updated AM/FM/CD/MP3 radio with auxiliary audio input jack. The driver information center has moved to the gauge cluster, which has also been enhanced with new graphics and lighting.

The 2009.5 Pontiac G6 will also benefit from the integrated info-tainment opportunities in GM's optional MY LINK enhanced communication package. MY LINK integrates audio system, Bluetooth telephone, XM satellite radio and OnStar navigation functions in one simple package. It includes an upgraded USB-equipped radio system, allowing for direct control of various portable music players, plus provides a full year of both XM radio and OnStar Directions and Connections services.

Other interior changes include new dark satin nickel trim accents on the steering wheel, door panels, and shifter plate. New two-tone seats in an ebony-light taupe color combination are available in either cloth or leather for all models, offering an option to the standard ebony seats. A new optional ebony-titanium color leather seating package is also available on all GT and GXP models.

Pontiac G3, 2009

Pontiac G3, 2009

Expanding its portfolio in the rapidly growing small car segment, Pontiac announced plans to bring the sporty, five-door hatchback Pontiac G3 to U.S. showrooms early next year. When it arrives, the G3 will provide Pontiac with a total of four vehicles capable of more than 30 miles per gallon on the highway.

Successful in Canada (as the Pontiac G3 Wave) and Mexico (as a sedan model), the Pontiac G3 offers an EPA estimated 27 mpg in the city and 34 mpg on the highway while providing the best shoulder and hip room in the segment for seating five adults.

The 2009 Pontiac G3 will join the all-new 2009 Pontiac Vibe (32 mpg) and recently enhanced 2009 versions of the G6 sedan (33 mpg) and G5 coupe (37 mpg) in Pontiac's "Over 30" club.

Generating 106 horsepower (79 kW), the Pontiac G3's 1.6L Ecotec four-cylinder engine is mated to a five-speed manual or optional four-speed automatic transmission. It will also feature an unusually rich mix of standard features for an entry-level car, including air conditioning, a CD/MP3 audio system with auxiliary input jack, fog lamps, rear spoiler, OnStar, and a host of standard safety features, including four airbags, that gain the Pontiac G3 a five-star frontal crash rating.

Interior space is optimized to comfortably seat five adults, including "theater"-style seating for rear seat passengers. The rear seats also feature a 60/40 split to offer up to 42 cubic feet of cargo space.

Pontiac Solstice Coupe, 2009

Pontiac Solstice Coupe, 2009

The making of a coupe
It is a modern sports car with classic lines. The roofline has a "fastback" shape with stylized "rails" that run from the front of the roof to the rear, culminating in a stylish and functional ducktail-style rear spoiler.
The coupe's roof is fixed aft of the B-pillars, with side windows and a rear liftglass for access to the cargo area. The roof panel is easily removed from the passenger compartment, and an optional soft roof cover stores in the cargo area.

The Engineering the design
Despite its dramatic new look, engineers made only minor structural changes to create the Pontiac Solstice coupe. The rear fenders and rear fascia are the same as those on the convertible. New taillight assemblies flow more smoothly into the tapered roofline.
The sleek lines of the new roof give the car a fresh appearance, only minimal changes were made to the body structure - it's a great example of building on an already solid foundation.

The Lightweight structure
The roof's structure was strengthened with additional support elements, including an aluminum roof bow attached with aluminum brackets. The bow and brackets are stiff, low in mass, a design feature that pervades the coupe's overall construction. The roof includes a lightweight sheet molding compound cover affixed to a rigid aluminum frame for additional lightweight support. A lightweight magnesium roof panel frame weighs just 31 pounds (14.2 kg) and can be removed by one person. The cover is also made of sheet molding compound.

The Interior additions
Much of the coupe's interior remains the same as that of the convertible. However, the area behind the seats was redesigned for easy access to the cargo area, and a storage tray was mounted directly behind the headrests.

Removing the folding-top mechanism made way for a new, flat cargo floor and several storage compartments. The cargo area's covered bins provide secure storage for smaller items. Cargo tie-down hooks help secure irregularly shaped items.
