2012 Toyota Prius V



Overview
The V is a new Prius will be sold along with the current Prius. It aims to provide more space for families as the standard Prius, the "V" stands for versatility. High ease of use is more room for rear seats and cargo. Competitors include the Ford Escape Hybrid.

A car is the first line of the new Prius models, Toyota calls the "family Prius", which includes city car smaller than a regular Prius.

Exterior
Not a drastic change in the design department of the regular Prius. Toyota maintains the familial form, while adding a considerable amount of interior space. Increase the total length of 6 inches on the regular Prius, and V is an inch wider. Toyota says the front bumper has "aero corners" to improve aerodynamics and a roof spoiler to improve airflow and achieve a low air resistance for better efficiency.

Interioro
All changes will create more space inside, where there is an additional 12.7 cubic feet of cargo space. Like the regular Prius, V is the room for five passengers, the third row was not added more space in behind the second row. Low loading height and a wide gap in the back should be particularly attractive to families that are often used in the luggage compartment.



The increased cargo space have teamed up with more passenger space for rear passengers, headroom and legroom has been increased over the standard Prius. The 60/40 split rear seat slides forward and back and tilts up 45 degrees.



Some unique features include a panoramic sunroof. Weight is the enemy of fuel economy, and Toyota says that this configuration in the V is 40 percent lighter than a conventional roof. The V is also one of the first to offer the Toyota Entune multimedia company that combines a mobile phone, navigation and entertainment.

Under the Hood
The same hybrid system that powers the Prius sedan is under the skin Prius 1.8-liter four-cylinder V is 98 horses and 105 pound-feet of torque, while the electric motor makes 80 hp and 153 pound-feet of torque. Power is sent to the front wheels through a continuously variable automatic transmission.

Gas mileage is not ranked as high as a regular Prius. A Prius model estimated 42/38 mpg city speed / highway, with a combined 40 mpg rating. It's a 10 mpg standard with less than a Prius.

Safety
Standard safety equipment includes electronic stability control, traction control (both are needed federal law), seven airbags and ABS with electronic brake force distribution and brake assist. Bypass brake system is standard. It is usually not seen as a standard, but the constant V, is the backup camera.
